In This AMA, Frank McGrath shares personal relationship mistakes from his early bodybuilding career and explains how choosing the wrong partner can negatively impact progress, focus, health, and long term success. He emphasizes that support during prep is critical and that it is often better to stay single than be with someone who creates stress or distractions.

One of the cool things about these types of videos is the valuable information you can learn, learning from other people's misfortunes and mistakes.

Totally get where Frank is coming from. I have seen more than a few guys in the gym wreck their gains and their headspace over a partner who just does not get the prep life, the diet, or the early nights. Its brutal how fast the stress shows up in your recovery and lifts. A supportive partner makes all the difference, and honestly, if someone is dragging you down, being alone for a while beats the drama. And if you are ever thinking about a career change or side work in the trades to fund this lifestyle, you should really state HVAC requirements before you start, because the rules vary so much by state and it is a solid way to get some flexibility and cash for quality food and gear. Mutual respect and similar drive is the only way it works long term.
