Testosterone Propionate is known to cause significant post-injection pain (PIP), swelling, and muscle soreness. This discomfort largely stems from its chemical structure and formulation. High concentrations of solvents, such as benzyl alcohol (BA) and benzyl benzoate (BB), are required to prevent the raw testosterone powder from crystallizing in the vial. These solvents can cause a burning sensation and localized tissue inflammation upon injection.
Additionally, after injection, the carrier oil is absorbed faster than the testosterone, causing rapid precipitation of testosterone within the muscle. This forms micro-crystals that irritate muscle fibers.
Several strategies can reduce discomfort, though effectiveness may vary depending on individual response. One option is to warm the vial before use.
Run the sealed vial under warm tap water for a few minutes before drawing the solution. Warming the oil lowers its viscosity, helps dissolve micro-crystals, and allows for a smoother injection. Alternatively, you can place the filled syringe on a heating pad for several minutes before injecting. After injection, firmly massage the site for about two minutes to help disperse the oil. Applying a heating pad to the area for 10 to 15 minutes afterward can further promote blood flow and absorption.
