When New Guys Ask for Advice… Then Ignore All of It

One thing I’ve run into more than once is giving advice to someone new to gear who asks for help but doesn’t actually listen.

You’ll see it coming. They want reassurance, not guidance. They already decided what they’re going to run, how much, and why. They’re just looking for someone to green light it. When you bring up basics, start low, get bloodwork, don’t stack five compounds, learn how your body reacts they nod, then do the opposite.

What usually follows is predictable. Sides pop up fast, Sleep goes to hell. Anxiety ramps up. Estrogen issues, blood pressure problems, mood swings. Then the panic sets in and suddenly they want fixes for problems that were completely avoidable. That’s the frustrating part not that they made mistakes, but that they skipped the boring foundation work that keeps mistakes small instead of catastrophic.

I’ve learned you can’t save everyone. Advice only works when someone is ready to hear it. Experience is a brutal teacher. At some point, you stop pushing and just make it clear, this is what works long term, this is what doesn’t, and the rest is on them.

Gear isn’t the issue most of the time. Ego is. Impatience is. Wanting to look advanced before earning it. The guys who actually last in this game are the ones who respect the process early, even when progress feels slow.

Curious how others here handle this, Do you keep trying to guide new guys, or do you let experience teach them? Ever had someone ignore solid advice and learn the hard way?

this hits so close to home it actually hurts lol. i used to spend hours typing out detailed protocols for guys just to have them reply with "cool but what if i add tren and clen to my first cycle anyway?" it’s like talking to a brick wall. honestly i’ve reached the point where i just give the solid advice once and if they start arguing or making excuses i just back off and let them figure it out. some guys just have to touch the stove to realize it’s hot no matter how many times u warn them. it’s sad because they end up trashing their health and quitting the gym altogether when they could have just been patient. now i just save my energy for the guys who actually post their bloods and ask real questions instead of the ones looking for a "yes man" for their 1000mg disaster plan. experience is definitely a savage teacher but some people refuse to learn any other way!

this hits so hard man it’s actually exhausting. i used to try and save everyone from their own stupidity but now i just give the solid advice once and if they start with the "yeah but my buddy said" or "i want results now" i just stop responding. it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion... u tell them 500 test is plenty for a first go and next thing u know they’re posting about panic attacks and gyno because they added tren and dbol on week 2. some guys just have to touch the stove to realize it’s hot. at the end of the day u can lead a horse to water but u can’t make him get bloodwork lol. i just focus on the guys who actually want to learn and let the ego lifters find out the hard way.

Amen !! Lol those type of people are just unteachable, not worth sacrificing time and energy when they don't even listen to ppl protocols and only want to add what's "popular" or wants to do more because more is always better in their heads! Perfectly said

Exactly ! Many have to learn the hard way unfortunately, can't help them all

this hits so hard because you see it every single day on these boards. these kids come in wanting to look like pro bodybuilders by summer and they think pinning 500mg of tren and a bunch of orals is the shortcut but they don't even know how to manage their e2 on a basic test cycle yet. i used to spend hours writing out detailed protocols and explaining the why behind everything just for them to reply with "thanks bro but im gonna add some dbol anyway lol" and then two weeks later they're back crying about their hair falling out and their blood pressure being through the roof.

honestly i’ve reached the point where i just give the solid advice once and if they want to ignore it that’s on them. experience is a expensive and painful teacher but some guys just won't learn until they're staring at a bad blood panel or feeling like absolute death. it’s definitely an ego thing they want the results without putting in the years of boring work. you hit the nail on the head the guys who actually stick around are the ones who treat this like a marathon not a sprint. now i just save my energy for the guys who actually post bloodwork and ask real questions instead of the ones just looking for a pat on the back for their suicide stack.

seen this so many times it’s almost scripted. people don’t want advice they want permission. i’ll give the basics once and if they brush it off i stop pushing. gotta let grown men touch the stove sometimes. the ones who stick around long term are always the boring disciplined ones not the loud ones.
